Goa runs along about 100 km of the Konkan coast. North Goa has the busy beaches, the nightlife and the Saturday markets. South Goa is quieter, with wide sand at Colva, Benaulim and Palolem. Inland you'll find the churches of Old Goa, the Latin Quarter of Fontainhas in Panjim, and spice farms around Ponda.
Best time to visit
November to February is dry and pleasant. March to May gets hot. June to September is monsoon season: green, wet and much cheaper.
Getting there
Goa has two airports. Dabolim (GOI) is in the south, near Vasco, and is closer to South Goa beaches. Manohar International at Mopa (GOX) is in the north, near Pernem. Check which one your flight uses before you book a cab.
